About the Spanish La Liga
La Liga, officially known as LALIGA EA Sports for sponsorship reasons, is Spain's top professional football division. Founded in 1929, it is contested by 20 clubs and operates on promotion and relegation with the Segunda División. It is regarded as one of the top national leagues in world football and has produced more UEFA Champions League winners than any other country, driven largely by the dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona — the two clubs that contest El Clásico and have together won the vast majority of La Liga titles in the modern era.
